Alan Tudyk was born in El Paso, Texas. Tudyk studied drama at the Methodist-affiliated Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas where he won the Academic Excellence award for Drama, and spent time studying at Juilliard.
Tudyk has had guest roles in a number of TV series including Arrested Development and CSI but is perhaps best loved for his role as Hoban “Wash” Washburne in the TV series Firefly which aired in 2002.
In 2000, Tudyk had roles in the movies 28 Days and Wonder Boys and in 2001 Tudyk played Wat in A Knight’s Tale and Monte in Hearts in Atlantis.
Tudyk provided the voices for Oscar & Dab the Dodo in the annimatied feature Ice Age, a role reprised in Ice Age 2 and the Ice Age video game.
In 2004 Tudyk played Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball and performed the voice for Sonny in I Robot in addition, all the movement and expression of Sonny the robot was based on Tudyk’s performance.
In 2005 Tudyk reprised the role of Wash in the feature film Serenity.
Recent films include a brief but memorable role in Knocked Up, an hilarious accidentally drugged Simon in the British comedy Death at a Funeral, a supporting role alongside Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma and the 2008 film Meet Market.
In addition to film and television, Tudyk has starred in a number of Broadway presentations including Epic Proportions, Wonder of the World, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Misalliance, Oedipus and Bunny Bunny, Spamalot and Prelude to a Kiss.
Tudyk plays the voice of a Marine in the Xbox 360 game Halo 3 alongside his Firefly co-stars Adam Baldwin and Nathan Fillion.
Tudyk’s latest project is the David Kohan/Max Mutchnick comedy pilot for ABC where he will play a gay business partner. The series is one of 17 being considered by ABC for mid-season.
